Oh my goodness!!! What a scary evening at Milton Keynes Theatre last night! There have been seven Paranormal Activity movies to date and now a play.
I have never seen any of the films but I’m certain the play is every bit as scary if my experience last night was anything to go by. The play concerns James and Lou who come to the UK from Chicago but they very quickly realise that its them who are haunted, not the place. With many sound effects and tricks, things go from bad to worse for them until the terrifying denouement.
James and Lou were played respectively by James Bye of Eastenders fame and Hannah Sinclair Robinson and it was a real tour de force from both of them. They were hardly off stage and in a state of high tension for most of the play. Ably assisted by Jo Castleton and Caroline Faber playing James’ Mother and the Clairvoyant, the whole evening was quite brilliant.
The only thing we noticed were the gaps between the scenes where everything was completely black felt a bit long. But that didn’t detract in any was Credit must also go to the designers and operators of the scary special effects that added so much to the piece! We jumped out of our skins many times throughout the evening!
If you enjoy being scared out of your wits, then this is definitely the play for you!
It is on at Milton Keynes Theatre until Saturday 19th September but if you can’t make that week,
